The Goldthorpe Towns Commercial Investment Fund is part of a programme of projects. They’re funded by government as part of the £23.1m Towns Fund Deal. It’s based around Goldthorpe, Thurnscoe and Bolton on Dearne.
It’ll unlock the development of major employment growth in the Dearne Valley area. New chances for employment will be created, and new investment attracted into the area. This will mean more well-paid jobs for local people. It’ll also mean fewer skilled young people leaving the area for work.
The fund will be available to developers and commercial businesses who require assistance to bridge agreed viability constraints/gaps. Examples of this include commercial office, industrial, logistics and manufacturing occupiers.
It’ll help with projects which aren’t viable without some extra investment. It can be used for:
- delivery of new commercial floor space
- repurposing or bringing back into use existing commercial floor space

Apply/register for the fund through our YORtender system
This fund is using our YORtender electronic portal system. This will make sure that all documents can be received safely and tracked. It allows our team a standard way to share any extra details with all applicants at the same time. It also allows questions from applicants and responses to be shared with everyone where we can.
Any organisations interested in applying for this funding are asked to complete the application on YORtender.

The closing date for returning applications is 12pm Friday 31 March 2023

Scheme launch
There’ll be an official scheme launch event on Thursday 9 February 2023. It’ll take place from 10am until 12pm at Goldthorpe Parish Hall, Lockwood Road, Goldthorpe, Rotherham, S63 9YJ.
This will be a chance to find out more about the scheme. There’ll be informal discussions with consultants CBRE and council officers. It’ll also provide chances to network with other interested developers and businesses attending.
We’re also hosting a session about both the YORtender system to support the application process, and Added Social Value. This will be led by the organisation Go 4 Growth. This will be held on 2 March 2023, from 10am to 12 Noon at Goldthorpe Parish Hall, Lockwood Road, Goldthorpe, S63 9JY.
