Advanced Electronics are a world-leading specialist fire equipment manufacturer who have fire alarm panels and fire safety solutions protecting people and property in more than 80 countries.

Similarly, they have staff based around the world with their Research and Development team based in Barnsley, where they began their journey at the Barnsley Business and Innovation Centre in Wilthorpe before moving to new premises on Whaley Road and expanding their staffing numbers.

Councillor Robin Franklin, Cabinet spokesperson for Regeneration and Culture, said: "This is another fantastic success story for a business with Barnsley-based operations, and we wish them well for the next 25 years and beyond.

"Advanced Electronics add to the already diverse portfolio of businesses based in the borough and demonstrate that Barnsley is a place where any business can thrive."

Peter Bell, Head of Research and Development, said: "We’re delighted to welcome the Mayor to our Barnsley Research and Development office as we celebrate our 25th year of innovation and growth.

"Having started in offices within the Barnsley Businesses and Innovation Centre, it’s incredible to reflect on how far we've come and how rooted we remain in this community. The Research and Development team has grown from a handful of engineers to a 40 strong team across Barnsley and Bangalore.

"The Mayor’s visit highlights the importance of fostering local business and innovation, and we’re proud of the impact Advanced has had not only here in Barnsley but globally through our Research and Development efforts and in the thousands of products helping to protect lives and property."
